A certified translation is produced and certified — with a seal and signature — by a court-appointed sworn interpreter. Unlike a regular translation, it carries full legal validity and is accepted by courts, registry offices, universities, banks and all other institutions in Bosnia and abroad. A regular translation is fine for internal use — the moment you submit a document to an institution, you need a certified one.
The price depends on the type and length of the document, the direction of translation and the deadline. Short standard documents (birth certificate, marriage certificate, diploma) are charged per document; longer texts per standard translation page. Standard documents are usually ready within 24 to 48 hours, and shorter ones often the same day. For larger texts we agree the deadline in advance — and it is a commitment, not an estimate. If your translation is urgent, say so in your inquiry and I'll do my best to accommodate you.
The certified translation is printed, bound together with a copy of the source document, and includes a certification clause in which the interpreter attests that the translation fully corresponds to the original. Each translation bears the sworn interpreter's seal and signature and its registry number. Institutions in Bosnia accept such a document without further authentication.
For the quote and the translation itself, a legible scan or photo sent by e-mail, Viber or WhatsApp is enough. Some institutions require the certified translation to be bound with the original or a certified copy — check with the institution you're submitting to, and I'll gladly point you in the right direction.
Yes — a translation bearing a sworn court interpreter's seal is recognised in Bosnia and, as a rule, abroad as well. For certain countries the source document must first carry an apostille or consular legalisation, depending on the destination. My office is in Vogošća (Ulica 24. juna 44), about ten minutes from central Sarajevo. Most clients complete their translations entirely online: you send the document electronically and collect the certified translation in person, or I send it by express post anywhere in Bosnia — or scanned by e-mail. For interpreting, I travel to courts, notaries' offices and meetings anywhere in the country.
